In the past decade, as a result of the successful development of all the economic enterprises, a dramatic change in direction has occurred. Today the economic situation of the Kibbutz is very stable.
The productive side of the Kibbutz includes:-
“Galcon” – a factory producing Irrigation Control Equipment
“Pastoral” Hotel
“Kayaks” – Kfar Blum – Beit Hillel
Agriculture – field crops, dairy cows, poultry and orchards.
On the social side – in 1999 great changes occurred in the lifestyles of the members and the Kibbutz changed to the model of a “Security Net”, whereby the community maintains a high standard of mutual aid and support, subsidizing matters pertaining to health, education, cultural activities, the dining room (which is still open and active), etc.
Today there are 210 members in Kfar Blum, with a total population of about 520, including members, children, soldiers and residents. Many of the third generation choose to return as residents.
There has been no absorption of new members for a long time, but now the topic of new members has reawakened and discussions are in process.
The Kibbutz has already started building an Expanded Kibbutz Neighborhood with 54 plots in stage one. Sales are in high gear and for those interested, plots are still available. The Kibbutz is also in the process of transferring ownership of the apartments over to the members.
